Facial Procedures
Sun exposure, weight fluctuation, and the natural aging process make skin loosen and sag, which results in wrinkles and jowls on a once youthful, vibrant face. A facelift is a surgical procedure designed to restore your youthful appearance by eliminating wrinkles and drooping, slackened skin, which add years to your once vigorous appearance, making you look older than you feel. Fresh, taut skin fashioned by the skilled hands of Dr. Yessenow can make you look years younger! During the facelift procedure performed by Dr. Yessenow, he makes discreet incisions along the hairline, ears, or chin, so that excess fat, tissue, and skin is lifted and removed. The remaining skin is then smoothed, tightened, and carefully stitched in place. Dr. Yessenow, who has been certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery since 1993, places the incisions so that they are inconspicuous, even with the hair pulled up. For even more beautiful results, a facelift is often performed in conjunction with other surgeries, such as eye lifts and lip enhancement. The effects of a facelift can last for years, and, in some cases, for decades.
Dr. Yessenow also performs many types of newer, more limited facelift procedures for the appropriate candidates. These have the advantage of a quicker recovery and less invasive procedure.

Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, can help you obtain a more alert and rested appearance by tightening the skin, removing the excess fat, and eliminating under-eye bags that can make you appear to be more tired, angry, or upset than you are. Using his skilled surgeon’s hands, Dr. Yessenow can perform eyelid surgery that will restore the skin around your eyes to a natural, youthful appearance and reduce the signs of aging caused by droopy, puffy eyes and eyelids. During the eye lift, inconspicuous incisions are made along the eyelid creases and excess fat, muscle, and skin are trimmed away from the eyelid. The remaining tissue is then lifted and carefully secured in place. Vision that is obstructed by drooping upper eyelids can also be corrected. The end result will be a vibrant, refreshed complexion and a face that looks years younger. For optimal results, eyelid surgery may be performed in conjunction with chemical peel or laser resurfacing. To learn more about eyelid surgery, contact our office today.
Drooping brows and those horizontal lines and furrows on the forehead can give a person a sad, angry, tired, and aged appearance. A brow lift, or forehead lift, is a procedure that restores a more youthful, refreshed look to the area above the eyes. Dr. Yessenow performs the forehead lift by removing or altering the muscles and tissues that cause the furrowing or drooping. In doing so, he smoothes the forehead, raises the eyebrows and minimizes frown lines. Dr. Yessenow may use the conventional surgical method, in which the incision is in the forehead, at the hairline, or above the hairline, depending on your anatomy. Or he may perform a brow lift using an endoscope, which is a miniature camera that is inserted below the skin and used to help lift the skin and remove some of the underlying muscles causing the wrinkles. Dr. Yessenow often performs a brow lift in conjunction with a facelift in order to provide a smoother overall look to the face. To learn more about a brow lift, please contact our office today.
Having a nose that is too big, crooked, or otherwise out of proportion can throw off your face’s delicate balance, making you feel insecure about your appearance. Rhinoplasty, or cosmetic surgery of the nose, can correct problems such as a bridge that is too wide, bumps or depressions, or the effects of an injury. When performed by Dr. Yessenow, a rhinoplasty can enhance the shape, size, and overall appearance of your nose, which will help you feel less self-conscious. A rhinoplasty can also help correct a birth defect or help relieve some breathing problems. Rhinoplasty usually takes an hour or two, though complicated procedures may take longer. During surgery, Dr. Yessenow separates the skin of the nose from the supporting framework of bone and cartilage, which he then sculpts to the desired shape. Finally, the skin is redraped over the new framework. Sometimes, Dr. Yessenow performs rhinoplasty from within the nose, making his incision inside the nostrils. Other times, he prefers an “open” procedure, especially in more complicated cases. In these cases, Dr. Yessenow makes a small incision across the columella, which is the vertical strip of tissue separating the nostrils. Dr. Yessenow, who completed a five-year-residency at the University of Iowa ear, nose and throat program, performs surgeries for recurrent sinus infections that are non-responsive to antibiotics, in order to enlarge the openings to better drain the sinuses. One surgical option is functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS), in which Dr. Yessenow inserts an endoscope, a very thin fiber-optic tube, into the nose for a direct visual examination of the openings into the sinuses. With state-of-the-art micro-telescopes and instruments, abnormal and obstructive tissues are then removed. In the majority of cases, the surgical procedure is performed entirely through the nostrils, leaving no external scars. In image-guided surgery, Dr. Yessenow uses a near-three-dimensional mapping system that combines computed tomography (CT) scans and real-time information about the exact position of surgical instruments using infrared signals. In this way, he is able to navigate his surgical instruments through complex sinus passages and provide surgical relief more precisely. Another option is the Caldwell-Luc operation, which relieves chronic sinusitis by improving the drainage of the maxillary sinus, one of the cavities beneath the eye.
